I know this may sound silly

Okay so I know you can get an infection in your breasts when you're breast feeding as my mother did
But I was wondering if you can get an infection in your breasts if youre not breast feeding. Can you get an infection even if you've never even had a child? I have severe pain in my breasts right now, they're also swollen and warm (like fever) and it feels like the inside of my nipples are burning. I can barely lift my arms or keep a bra or shirt on. I'm literally icing my boobs in desperation for relief. (I would also like to add that I'm making myself a doctors appointment in the morning)

I've taken 5 digital tests and all said not pregnant and I'm on birth control that stops my period for 3 months so I can't consider a missed period as a symptom. I'm thinking I'm reacting to my birth control differently all the sudden.

I don't find it necessary the call an ambulance, which would be my only way to get to the ER
