Male OBGYN?

Question

Ok so i'm REALLY not ok seeing a male Dr. but i just found out that the ONLY OBGYN in my area that accepts my insurance is a male and im devastated. I want to cry just thinking about a man other than my husband touching my private areas and seeing me. I don't know how to deal with this, i don't want to go 😰 please tell me how you deal with this =( i know he is a Dr. But those are still my private places and he is a man ehobis not my husband. Are your hubbys ok with it too? Please be kind in comments.

Most obgyns I've ever known and heard about are men. Nothing new. He's a dr, he has no interest in your parts..lol

I thought I would have a problem with this as well. I now have a male OBGYN and I adore him. He has excellent bedside manner and is always professional. He always takes the time to listen to all of my problems and does his best to make me feel comfortable. I have had women before and that was not the case, it seemed like since they were women they knew everything about my body because it was the SAME as theirs. If you are this uncomfortable with having a male OBGYN, maybe you should look into a female that you can commute to in surrounding towns???  Most of everything that occurs in my doctors office is done my female nurses unless it is a doctor specific task.

In my experience, male doctors have always been more gentle than females. My baby doctor was a male & he never made me feel uncomfortable. His bedside manner was amazing.

I have a male OB after seeing a female for many years and he's fantastic!  He's very kind and gentle whereas I always noticed the female I was seeing was a little more rough. .. also, there should always be female nurse in the room with you as well when you have a male doing your exam. That is for your comfort and protection as well as the doctor's. 
They are professionals and though it seems or feels inappropriate it is not - if you ever got an inappropriate feeling from your male OB then I'd say absolutely go somewhere else!

I thought I was going to have a problem with it too. Mainly for the fact I didn't think a male dr would understand me as much as a female dr. But, my Dr was great. I don't really know how else I dealt with it other than realizing his main goal is to help you deliver a happy & healthy baby. Hope you can find a way to come to terms with it.

Mines totally okay with it, and honestly in my own experiences male doctors were a lot less condescending and judgmental the female doctors. Also, all of the male ob-gyns I've ever seen have been married. The "touching" is literally for a second after you've been open up with the speculum so that he can feel your cervix to make sure everything is alright. Not to mention that if you plan on having children it doesn't matter who you've been seeing as your OB, most of the time it's whoever is on call at the moment who actually does the delivering so there's no guarantee anyways. And last but not least it is not considered cheating by anyone's  (including God's) definition.

I had to have a  male gynecologist  once before also. He was very nice. Made my experience  pleasant  and he was very gentle.  I was scared and shocked at 1st but now looking  back i think it went great, but it was only once. I don't  think  I'd  be  comfortable  with  having  a  male dr. Every time though.
