Job interview and 6 weeks pregnant
I'm posting this here because there is probably a higher concentration of academics here. I have my PhD in Genetics, and my husband and I recently relocated for his position. It's been a pain to find something for me here. The only thing I've found is an Adjunct position which pretty much pays nothing. I have a job interview for a NIH funded scientist position in a lab nearby, pretty much the ONLY lab nearby. I'm torn.... I want this position so bad, it's perfect for me. I know I'll get an offer. But, I'll be five weeks pregnant. I won't even have gone to the doctor for my first appointment yet until after the interview. I know it's early, but I feel like my inability to work in a lab for 6-12 weeks during maternity leave will not only affect my productivity but will also affect the entire lab. I applied for this position 4 months ago and I'm ecstatic to have an interview. Almost more excited than this pregnancy (I'm already a terrible mom 😥). Idk what to do. Should I be honest and tell them at the interview? Should I tell them as soon as I get an offer? advice/thoughs???😩😩😩😩😩
