My PCOS battle

Candice

This will be a bit long but I just feel like I need to purge. I am 28 years old and I was diagnosed with PCOS about 5 years ago. Knowing what I know now about the symptoms, if I had gone to the right kind of doctor in high school I probably would have been diagnosed when I was 14 or 15. Instead I went to three different doctors for what we thought were unrelated symptoms (obgyn for irregular periods: received birth control; neurologist for chronic migraines: prescribed 2 migraine medications; dermatologist for not your average high school acne: prescribed everything in the book and nothing touched it). ANYWAY.... my periods were usually 3 months apart and eventually spread out to 6 months apart. Shortly after being diagnosed with PCOS, like weeks, I miraculously got pregnant with our first and only child after 2 years of trying. She is now 4 years old <3. Early last year my husband and I decided to try again and have had no such luck. My cycles were beginning to average out at 130 days (my longest cycle was 445 days). I had lost hope of ever figuring out how to time it right and the older I get, the worse my symptoms seem to be. This past March I stepped on a scale and realized I weighed more than I had weighed in my entire life and decided to do something about it. I started an exercise program and modified my diet. Between April and the end of June I lost 20 lbs and my period started shortly after. Now my average cycle has dropped down to be about 45 days! I had to take a break from the exercises for a couple of months but I've recently started up again and my period has continued to show up, even when I was on my break from my exercise routine. I have to say I think it has more to do with living a healthier lifestyle than the weight loss. I still weigh more now than I did when I got pregnant 5 years ago (by about 20 lbs). I'm beginning to feel hopeful for baby #2, but I also feel like I am just fooling myself.

Thanks for listening, baby dust to all <3 <3
