2-vessel umbilical cord
I had my anatomy scan yesterday. What a nightmare. All appeared to be fine during the scan but then afterwards, the doctor wanted to speak with me. It turns out that even though the genetic tests (soft markers) had me in the clear and the fetal scan showed all was well, it turns out that I have a 2-vessel umbilical cord (also known as a SUA). Baby's heart and kidneys looked good but now I have to have extra appointments with the perinatologist in addition to the OB to make sure the baby is growing at an appropriate rate since the baby may not get as much nutrients. Also I need to meet with a prenatal cardiologist for an EKG to make sure the heart is OK. I had to decide right there and then if I wanted to have an amniocentesis.After discussion with my husband, we decided against an amniocentesis. Needless to say, I've been a mess. Anyone else go through anything similar?
