If you're diagnosed with GD, do you have to inject yourself with insulin? Or can you just prick your finger and watch what you eat? Needing an answer Asap please :(

It is something that varies and treatment is done on a case by case basis and something that should be discussed wrih your doctor.

There's a step between diet controlled and insulin controlled. that's the step I'm on. I'm managing my GD with the lowest dose of glyburide. Been doing it for about 4 weeks now and doing well :)

What does the diet look like? Is it cutting carbs and sweets? Can you have any carbs?

When I first got the call I save rely changed my diet but the time I saw the doctor there was no need for insulin and I am controlling very well by food and testing myself 7 times a day! Good luck :)

It depends how bad it is. Usually you can control it with diet and exercise and just have to check your sugar. If diet and exercise don't work, then yes you would have to give yourself insulin

I just depends on how bad it is. Most people just watch what they eat and maintain it that way. Very rarely do you have to have insulin.
