Confused about switching sides?

Hi mamas. Am  I supposed to switch sides during each feeding? I always do one breast per feeding and next feeding switch to the other side. Seems to be working well. My only issue right now is forceful letdown but idk if switching sides during feedings would even help with that.

I have always made sure the first side is fully nursed. I want baby to get the hind milk. If still acting hungry offer the other side. You can check to see if baby has reached the hind milk by expressing a little with your hand. Should be rich and creamy looking.

Switching during feedings may increase supply and help you out later down the road. Even majority one side then partial on the other side will stimulate more production. If you're pumping maybe nurse one side and pump the other immediately after if baby is full. :)

During the day I only feed on one side at a time. At night though, my sin only wakes up 1 time, so I feed both sides because they are both so full.

It will change. Sometimes your LO will only want one side and sometimes will want both. Let your baby drain one side, burp, and then offer the other side. If baby doesn't want it, respect that. Sometimes my LO takes both sides, and sometimes he only wants one.

That's what I did with my son. If it works stick with it. Some women can't produce enough to do it. It's nice to be able to pump the other breast after a feeding. Of course if baby is not content during feeding with first breast offer the other.

Just go with the flow. So what works for you. There's no hard and fast rule, just feed in demand and don't time the feeds. For the letdown situation, Google "block feeding" and it should explain about feeding to avoid a forceful letdown. Or you could just express and letdown, then relatch bub. 
Also don't forget sometimes bubs feeds will take more or less time, they get better over time at getting milk out and feeds will be shorter eventually (my 6m old takes less than 5 mins each side) and also they may only want one side and not the other. That's okay too. :)
