How do you feel about Sex Ed being taught to high schoolers?

I've been considering becoming a Sex Ed teacher recently and was wondering how others felt about how and what should be taught. I've read about teachers who have allowed students unlimited access to all kinds of sex related questions and it turned out really well. The kids were able to make informed decisions about their bodies and sex. Many of these students would say that all schools should allow such Sexual Education because if they hadn't had access to such a class they wouldn't have ever known how reproduction worked. I personally agree with that type of Sex Ed too, with parental consent of course. How do you ladies feel about it? How do you believe Sex Ed should be taught?

Comprehensive sex ed with sections on consent is VITAL. Abstinence only education is worse than nothing at all- states that teach it actually see MORE teen pregnancies and STI cases reported.

In high school we had Sex Ed week during Biology and our teacher had us write down questions on a slip of paper, anonymously, and he answered them all. 
Questions about STDs and STIs, oral sex, anal sex, masturbations, EVERYTHING. However, it was my teacher's decision to do this. My county had a abstinence only Sex Ed curriculum so all the students who weren't blessed with my teacher were given the "If you have sex you'll get an infection that will stay with you forever and you'll get pregnant and drip out of school" speech. 
I say that because that's what my friends told me their teachers said to them! Crazy. 
I'm all for questions.

The people that say abstinence only, if your child had a specific question about HIV, alternative birth control (female condoms, spermicide, etc) or other STD could you provide a 100% correct answer without turning to Google?

Sex ed should begin at an elementary level and expand in middle school then reviewed in high school. The reason we (the U.S) has such trouble with both alcohol and teen pregnancy is because both are so criminalized. Countries who acknowledge that its a way of life and have extensive sex ed and dont make alcohol a big deal, have a lot less problems

It should start in grade school. Simple anatomy, good touch/bad touch, etc, and progress each year from there. There are too many people who aren't educated about their bodies at all. It's not right.

I think videos of women giving birth and getting a cesarean should help show the reality of things as well. I'm trying remember how that class was for us. Most of it was abstinence then a lil older it was different dye cups to show how diseases spread. That was cool and informative I guess.

I think you should do it. There's a lot of people who are very uneducated about sex and you would think in high school, students would know all about it. But I believe even if they do or not, it's a good reminder to keeping yourself protected and healthy. Sex isn't a joke and shouldn't be taken lightly especially with young adults

I used to teach Health which included sex Ed. I was very open with my students as long as they were respectful which they always were.

Infertility. They always talked about how one time was all it took. Pregnancy, STDs, contraceptives. No one ever talks about the possibility that one day it may not be that easy. Infertility is so taboo. I grew up my whole life thinking getting pregnant would be the easiest thing I've ever done, because according to sex ed, it should be. Five years and 4 months in, with a miscarriage in July. Not as easy as everyone made it out to be. Nothing and no one in my life prepared me for this possibility. The thought was never in my head. A simple it might not be as easy for everyone. Sometimes it's harder, takes longer, requires medical intervention... anything. Something. Would have been nice instead of growing up with the idea that it was easy.

I think everything should be taught....I think abstenance is a wonderful idea but not realistic these days so it's best to keep kids informed on everything how it all works.... how to properly use protection and why u should....the not so glorious parts of pregnancy....puberty...everything!

My parents never talked to me about sex, and I had the class in 6th grade and it was sort of nice to know like, at least I could learn somewhere, cause not all kids get to be taught by their parents
