New Testing?!

I had my first doctors appt at 7wks, he spoke about new testing that is out to check for abnormalities that's 99% accurate and with this test that they do at 9wks, it even tells you the gender of the baby!!?

Anyone else heard of this?

Yes, it's a blood test. Pretty common now, and usually covered for women who are over 35 or otherwise high-risk. There are several different companies--MaterniT21, Panorama, Harmony --those are the three I can think of off the top of my head. I

Harmony test. Not all insurances cover it. Mine does but I still have to pay $130 out of pocket...

Yes, double check if its covered through your insurance first. But its also a cheat way to find out early what youre having.

They told me same thing I'm 28 and told me I was low risk but if we wanted it it would be an option I don't know what to do

I heard about it since they offer it at my doctor's office as well. It isn't usually covered by insurance as well.

And it only tests for SOME chromosomal abnormalities--the top three trisomies-21, 13, and 18, and also some sex chromosome abnormalities sometimes. They all slightly differ--you would need to know exactly which brand of test you are taking.
