How much money should I set aside for my baby?

I'm 9 weeks pregnant so I have a while to go lol. I have a decent amount saved in an emergency fund & I've just started setting aside a little over $550/month in a savings account to assist for when the baby gets here.

**I'd like to know an estimate of how much money is required for necessities to get through the first year ie: diapers, formula/food, clothing, baby nursery stuff etc. and maybe ways to save on some of these items**
Thankfully, I have really great medical insurance that will cover the cost of the child birth, as well as the usual immunizations and Dr. visits blah blah. I'll receive a stipend to help assist (somewhat) with childcare so that's not an issue. Please help. Thanks 💕

By second hand, don't buy swings/bouncer until your baby has tried it, cloth diaper and breastfeed. Babies are very expensive. First go round we splurged on a BOB stroller but otherwise didn't spend much other than necessary diapers

I spent maybe a total of 4000 on my kid and that's with medical bills and nursery clothes every thing... and I buy used and cheap stuff lol

I've bought most of the baby "gear" second had for a fraction of the cost new. I've also joined Amazon prime and Amazon mom and gotten some awesome baby wipe and diaper deals.

It depends on the brand's you buy. You can start looking around at stores or online for prices on everything. At first you'll go through about 12 diapers a day then that will decrease with age. Formula depends on how much the baby eats. I believe at first he/she will eat 2 - 3 oz every 2 to 3 hours then the amount will go up and more hours in between feedings. If you buy things used that will save you a ton!  There are a few things that I personally wouldn't buy used though such as a car seat and crib. If you do, check the expiration date on the seat and recalls on both. Walmart online has some really good deals and honestly they are just as good as the top brands from expensive stores. The cost of a baby really just depends on you and how much you want to spend.

We have purchased all the furniture, swing, bouncer, clothes and a few other thing second hand. We did get a new travel system and mattress. I recommend looking on craigslist or local Facebook baby sell pages for a lot of what you'll need for baby. Most of what we got was hardly used and still in new condition at 1/3 of retail.
