Can you request to be induced??

Question

So I'm 39 weeks and 1 day today my next appt is Friday I'll be 39 weeks and 6 days and I'm thinking about asking to be induced if there is no progress in dilation at my last appt a couple days ago there were no signs of labor and I'm ready and he is already 7 lbs and 11 ounces. It's time to come out!!!! Lol has anyone ever asked to be induced and they did it??

I wouldn't ask to be induced. The risks are big. 100% increased risk of C-section, risk of needing NICU for your Baby. Often Babys weight is incorrect via US. Most time Babys are a lot smaller than predicted. Baby tells you when it's time to come out. It is the healthier way.

Trust me induction is so not worth the potential risks. I'd only do it if medically necessary. Way too many women think they're due dates are when baby should be born but most research has shown that especially first pregnancies have a 42 week gestational period. When baby is ready it will release hormones to get your labor started. Induction is so much more painful and can lead to serious complications and risks for you and baby as well as a less than pleasant memory of your birth.

Do your research if you ask for it around 40 weeks they will do it they may even offer. Induced labor is more painful than natural labor and has higher risks for the meds not working or stop progressing and have to have an emergency c section. I'm not trying to scare you but I would definitely do your research before you decide what you want

I was induced at 39 weeks 3 days. Baby was perfect. Started getting induced at 7:00pm on Sunday and he was born Monday at 1:27pm. Perfectly healthy and I didn't have to have a c section!

I got induced at 39 weeks with my son and everything went smooth. It can actually be dangerous to go past 40 weeks because the baby can poop inside you. Just bring it up with your doctor!

Yes, but if your body is not ready yet it will still take forever. A good friend of mine asked to be induced for a specific birthday and it took her two full days to go into labor.

You can ask to be induced never hurts to ask if that's what you wanna do I think it depends on a woman body and the baby on what happens if you will need a  c section I know people who didnt get induced n ended up having having a c section so in the end it's you decision I'm being induced at 39 weeks I have some medical issues but I think it will be fine my son was induced n every thing went smoothly good luck 😉

I suggest you or any lady watch the movie "The business of being born", totally had me looking for a doctor that won't push inducing on me
