Maternity leave

I really don't understand why we can't be like other developed countries in regards to maternity leave! This frustrates me so much! This is what I'm worried about the most. How will I pay bills when I have no income while on maternity leave? Granted I get 6 weeks but only at a percentage of my pay and if I take longer than that to heal like I did with my first pregnancy. .. well I'm sol! I don't understand why our society cannot grasp this concept! Anyone else worried or frustrated?
