Would you be mad???

Question

On Friday my husband and I had to attend a funeral so we left our two year old with his parents. We later see on Facebook that his mother posted pictures of our daughter with lipstick and makeup on. She was born very premature and has very sensitive skin. We both were kinda pissed that she thought it was okay to put makeup on our child without asking or even saying that she had done it we only found out due to Facebook posts. Are we wrong for being upset?

Honestly I get your frustration but in the moment I doubt she was thinking about her sensitive skin and just trying to have some fun I would speak to her about it and ask her to be more aware next time. I'm sure she meant no harm what so ever or thought it was a big deal at all.

I wouldn't be mad she is 2 now not a newborn and they were playing make believe. Did you expect her to call you and ask if they can play with make up. They had fun. If leave it alone, but that's just me

She may not have thought of the sensitive skin and 2 years old is a little young to be playing make up. I'd talk to her calmly about it if it bothered you.

I would be mad just because I don't think it's right for little girls to wear makeup unless it's for a ballet performance etc. little girls are growing up way too fast nowadays. Not to mention her poor sensitive skin. Hope she doesn't get a reaction!

I don't think it occurred to her. Please don't be mad at her. Just have a calm conversation that you don't want anything put on her skin including makeup.. But add that it was okay that one time but you don't want it to happen again because of her sensitive skin. You have every right to say you don't want that happening.

You're not wrong for being upset. However, your MIL probably just didn't really think about your daughter's skin sensitivity. Just talk to her about it. Maybe even ask that she not post pics on social media.

I'd actually be pissed. Grand parents sometimes seem to think they have a right to make decisions for their grand kids when really they don't. This type of decision lacks common sense. Who puts makeup on a two year old? And now your daughter is always going to want to play with make up. I'm not saying you should freak out at her but I would definitely be laying down the law and letting her know that these types of decisions aren't here to make!

I would probably be annoyed, but pick and choose your battles. Let your child and the grandmother have some fun memories like that. If it truly contiues to bother you let your husband bring it up. But otherwise, I would let it go.

I don't think she thought about her sensitive skin, really unless it actually caused her to breakout I think its harmless play with little girls. Heck my 18 month old begs me to put makeup on her (blush, eyeshadow and lip gloss) and to fix her hair pretty. I think its very cute and funny also it might have just been fun bonding time for them. If you really don't like it just ask her not to do it again.
