It's also a misconception that bibles and prayer are banned from schools. It's simply not allowed to be taught as fact, distributed, or privileged over other religions. A child can quietly read their own bible during a free period if they wish.

It is a violation of the First Amendment for public schools to favor one religion over another, which is why there isn't sanctioned prayer in schools, but kids and faculty can pray and read religious texts as much as they want in between classes, on breaks, in study halls, and in extracuricular activities. A prisoner can't go out and buy a bible, therefore they're provided. Kids and bring bibles into the school and read on their own time. It's not the school responsibility to provide religous education or material. That's what church is for.

I work in a school. No one is phasing God out. Children who want to pray can pray and read their bibles. Adults who want to pray pray and read their bibles. They just can't do it together. We still say the pledge of allegiance every single day as well (that argument blows my mind)

Bibles are generally found in school libraries? They're a reference material. And students can bring a bible to school. They just cannot be passed out by the school. Prisons have bibles in libraries too. They can be bought. Just because it's a federal facility, doesn't mean it's owned by the government. A lot of prisons are privately owned, and therefore do not have the church and state separation like schools do.
