Dental procedures while pregnant?

Question

Does anyone know if you can have IV sedation while you're pregnant? AF due tomorrow the 7th and I have an appointment to get my wisdom teeth out the 9th. If I take a test and I'm pregnant, should I cancel my appointment?

Answer

No IV sedation. It isn't safe during pregnancy. If it is a situation where the teeth can wait, reschedule. If they are infected, or in the verge of infection, then the dentist may have a plan for pregnancy circumstances. Just call them to discuss.

I had to have 4 teeth and one wisdom tooth removed when I was in my 2 week wait for a BFP.

I HAD to though,  terrible infection and pain. They gave me a local anesthetic (needle in my gums ). The worst of it was just being aware of the procedure.  It didn't hurt until after.

They then gave me tylenol with codeine.  Found out I was in fact pregnant and am now 10 weeks.

Don't do it unless you HAVE to.

I had 4 teeth pulled while pregnant my ob told them hydrocodone was fine and my now 9month old daughter is perfectly healthy and always has been

I had mine removed at 18 weeks pregnant.  If you are, tell them and they will most likely give you something that is safe for pregnancy.  I had conscious sedation (I was awake but out of it) for mine and local anesthetic.  They gave me something besides narcotics for after (can't remember what exactly), but I only took it for 2 days bc I was anxious about it.  My OB supported me having it done.
