Anyone have HSG?

Question

Could someone give me some insight on an HSG test? I'm going next Thursday to get one done and I'm not exactly sure what to expect. Did it hurt? Did you find out much info? My husband and I have been ttc for 8 months now (6 using this app) and we want a little one so bad. I have a "regular" 28 day cycle and take opk's that say I'm ovulating so I'm not sure what the deal is.

I did it after a year of trying.... It hurt.. But I heard if it hurt that was good and meant you had a little blockage he was hopefully clearing out. I didn't take anything before hand. After it was over I had little cramps.... The next month I got pregnant! He said he cleaned my pipes... Guess it worked!!!! Now I'm trying for number two, 2 years later and wondering if I need it again or what. :) good luck.

I had one last year. It was very uncomfortable, and I was told (after the fact, unfortunately) that i should have taken a muscle relaxer just before the test because the solution they inject into your tubes can be irritating and cause your tubes (which are made of muscle) to contract, leading to a false read.

They insert a thing into your vagina that has a little balloon on the end and they inflate it a little to keep your cervix open. Once try do that they insert a dye that runs through your Fallopian tubes to make sure they are open. It's a very quick process, but I didn't like it. It wasn't exactly painful, but I felt so crampy. Also, bring a pad to wear because you will have the dye leak out... Which is a very yucky feeling.

But good luck! I got mine after ttc after a miscarriage for one year and I got pregnant the month after! And I fully believe the dye cleared out my tubes and contributed to my pregnancy
