Visited doctor or midwife?

I'm still trying to find a midwife! Have you had a first appt? How did you decide on a doctor or midwife?

For me he was the 6th OB I'd seen since I was 9. I have PCOS and it has been difficult to find an OB who is legitimately knowledgeable about the disease and has actually been successful in treating the fertility and while life aspects of the disease.

For me I've had to explain PCOS to at least 4 separate OBs and explained what my general practitioner and previous OB had tried doing. So I came with a set of questions that should be easy to answer and a few that are difficult. As well as their attitudes towards the conception, pregnancy, delivery and post partum processes.

If it seems like they aren't on the same page as me, I say thank you, but this isn't going to work. Then I move on to the next one.

My current OB is a gentleman from Peru, I believe he turns 80 this year. He's nothing short of amazing and has been on board for coupling diet modifications with medication to calm my PCOS down. This November I go in for my pap smear and update our current fertility action plan to better fit how my ovaries are responding. I started ovulating again after a 10 years, and now that I've been taken off metformin I'm still ovulating by myself. This is a HUGE accomplishment I've been trying to achieve since I was 13! We've even gotten pregnant 3 times, the most recent time was with an IUD.
