Little one eating non stop!

Hi ladies! I'm three weeks three days post c-section and my little guy eats literally every single hour (breast feeds). If he doesn't eat every hour he's screaming. He's horribly gassy and we use gas drops with every feeding and they don't seem to help.  Last night my husband and I were so sleep deprived we decided to get out some sample formula we had and gave him two ounces after he fed for almost an hour on the breast. He took the entire two ounces, burped and passed out. He slept for four hours! Normally he sleeps for about 1-1/2 -2 so this was obviously welcomed. I don't want to switch to formula, but I'm thinking maybe he's not getting enough on the boob (he falls asleep every time). Today I started pumping and giving it to him via bottle and he seems to fill up, but is still eating about three ounces every hour and a half. Does anyone have Any advice?
