Vaginal itching before af

I've been noticing that around the time af is close I get really bad vaginal itching. Also I notice that I scratch alot in my sleep, breaking skin. The vaginal part that itches is where the lining of the underwear is. Once af is here the itching goes away. Does anyone else have this problem? What can I do to stop it?
