I would suggest coconut water!  Has the electrolytes but not all the sugar and chemicals!  :)

Last time my nurses wouldn't let me have anything with sugar or food once labor started. I only got ice chips and water

My midwife mentioned that sipping a little bit of Gatorade (like 1-2 bottles total depending on how long you're in labor) can be helpful for a quick hit of electrolytes, but to make sure you're drinking plenty of plain water too to help balance out the sugar. Also remember that even healthy labors can involve nausea and vomiting, so I'm just making sure I don't pack any drinks or snacks that I wouldn't want to see again if you know what I mean 😝😉

I was induced and had a Gatorade right when I got there ... But as soon as I got the epidural I was cut off of everything except: water, apple juice, cranberry juice, jello and Popsicles ... That they had to provide for me in order to monitor everything!

Hmmm not an expert but I'm a nurse but not a OB nurse so just trying to put 2 and 2 together so I mean no offense!
Gatorade tends to have a lot of sugar. Sugar crossed the placenta but baby makes their own insulin so if baby gets lots of sugar intake in the womb right before delivery during labor their body will produce lots of insulin - as soon as baby is born all that insulin is still circulating in the blood stream but the sugar from mom is cut off so the blood sugar can drop.

But again I'm no expert just throwing out some info

Yes! Isotonic drinks are highly recommended. I wish we had Gatorade in London ( sigh) the closest we have to it is a drink I do NOT like.
