Too many ultrasounds?

Question

I know that there isn't any real studies done on the effects of ultrasonography on developing fetuses and I'm just worried. I want to be a natural momma.. I guess what I'm looking for is opinions. I've already had 3 ultrasounds. I'm 11weeks, should I hold off?

I had one dating/viability scan at 13 weeks, and an anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I'm enjoying a perfectly healthy pregnancy and do not intend on having another ultrasound. They're medically unnecessary unless there's a suspected complication.

I'm pregnant with twins and have getting ultrasounds about every 2 weeks. I'm 18 weeks 3 days and my babies are perfectly fine. Blasting them with color can be extremely dangerous if done wrong. Because it gets really hot really fast. But the ultrasound techs do it very fast, and don't do it very early on in pregnancy. I would say professional ultrasounds done at the dr are fine. Paying for the private ones kind of scare me, especially since those ultrasounds are normally longer. The ones at the dr are fairly quick. Except like an NT ultrasound or the anatomy scan. But those are done later on, and it's not like you're getting ultrasounds that are that long every single time. Hope this helps. Sorry I don't have more info

I would do as few ultrasounds as possible. My doctor said that I'll be getting 3 done throughout my pregnancy. Of course if the doctor recommends them then do it. I personally would not go to one of those 3D ultrasound places because those people are trained on the job to use the equipment. If they hold the wand on your belly for an extended period of time it could be potentially harmful. This is just what I've read during my research. I'm definitely not a professional.

If there is medical reasons then yes I think you should have them. Most docs do a couple US at certain times to check things, and if you are having more there is probably a reason why. If you are concerned, what a chat with your doc.

I've had ultrasounds through out my entire pregnancy. At every single appointment I've gotten an ultrasound and at 36 weeks baby is perfectly healthy. I specifically chose an ob that does them at every appointment it's simply for piece of mind so I can actually see my baby boy.

My first son had complications so I fad but weekly scans from 11 weeks up until I had him at 40 weeks and with this pregnancy I have pre e and for the last 3 weeks I've been having to get scans 2 times a week to check his fluids. I have one healthy baby and will be having another one soon and haven't seen any issues from getting so many

I had many US throughout my pregnancy due to complications and needing to be checked. So I eventually asked the dr about it and his words were, "an ultrasound, yes, could harm a child if done for a prolonged time. But it would have to be everyday for a year before you would ever see any effects taking place. The amount given while pregnant is def safe and that is why a Dr will do up to 10 just as a regular checkup if the insurance will allow it
