Benefits of no epidural?

And.... Go! Deciding on a plan. I've read a bunch but would love to hear from ladies that have had this experience.  😊

I've done it both ways. I personally liked all natural better. I was able to change positions when I wanted. I was able to use the bathroom without the bed pan. Able to walk around and find the best position to deal with the contractions. I didn't even go to the hospital right away I got to stay in the comfort of my own home for a good bit of labor. Its one of those things someone can't tell you. Its about what you feel at that time.  Everyone is gonna have a different opinion. Its your birth plan and sometimes birth plans change. Me personally I will be doing all natural this time around too. Good luck.

You will be able to flip and move in the bed on your own. Some who get epi will be unable to push because they can't feel it which could extend the process. You will be able to walk around immediately and with epi it could take a while to wear off (usually couple hours but affects everyone differently).

I had two all natural births they were pleasant fast I could get up shower I felt like I had won a marathon tired but really happy babies both nursed well and thrived Id reccomend it to every woman to at least try my husband is also very proud and tells me how amazing I am to be able to do this I don't know what it's like with meds but I don't think people were created to make babies and not go through labor and birth look into natural and holistic births check out Ina mays books they are great and full of inspirational stories 😊

Haha what pros are there? A bunch of pain!! I didn't have one with my first and st 8 cm dilated I literally thought I was gonna die. The pain is unbearable. & I love pain. I had to have a breathing mask and everything cause my heart rate was going crazy and everything else. I don't recommend it. I couldn't even get up to go to the bathroom for hours afterwards. I got a hemroid from it. My second I got a epidural & it was a breeze. Well after the 5 cms that's when you get the epidural. They say after your first birth gets easier. I don't have no back pain like they say epidural causes. If you want to go through unbearable pain, go ahead. Lol I'm nor talking just uncomfortable either. It is HORRIBLE. I couldn't even hold my child cause I was in such pain. But every woman is different. Do what you want for birthing.

I had a failed epidural while going through an induction. The epidural was the worst part! And they say pitocin contractions are worse than natural! Honestly, it was never as bad as i thought it would be. And  it took days. Honestly I'd never get another epidural. The hour that one had of my body was numb was the worst part... i couldn't move or even sit up on my own. I was still in pain and couldn't even get up. Plus they catherize you and i absolutely hated that. Without the epidural i could get up and walk around and i thought it was magical feeling her slide out! I even pulled her to my chest and the rush of endorphins was CRAZY! I couldn't feel any pain after her head was out and i just bawled about how beautiful she was abd how I'd never felt such love!

I'm flexible but since this is my second I know what I perfer. I perfer no pitocin unless medically necessary- not just bc the doc wants me to progress faster- no epidural - didn't get it till 7cm last time but was so exausted I gave in. This time I'm pushing for a clear liquid diet at least. Bc new studies show that it's not a danger. I'll be staying at home till the contractions are closer so I can eat and do as I please haha. I'm stubborn. They say nurses make the worst patients 😆

I couldn't feel a thing with my epidural and pushed my baby boy out in less then 15 minutes and once they stopped the pain medication I was up and using the bathroom as soon as they took care of stitching me up. Very positive experience! And I was relaxed and happy the whole time... Something I never thought I could say as a person who has major anxiety.

I swore I would never get an epidural but ended up getting two while I was in labor. I personally regret doing so. The only reason I decided to go ahead and have it done was because I had already gone a day of labor with no sleep plus a day prior with no sleep due to insomnia and all I wanted to do was sleep but the pain wouldn't let me. It wasn't unbearable it was mainly uncomfortable and annoying. I knew if I didn't get any sleep it would be difficult for me when it came down pushing. Plus I wasn't progressing like I was suppose to. I was stuck at 6cm up until like 2-3 hours prior to pushing(32 hours of labor). They ended up giving me pictocin to help move things along. So I got my first one and it worked for about two hours. Enough for me to sleep a bit. It ended up causing my leg to burn really bad that in my opinion hurt worse than contractions. They finally re-did a whole new epidural on me. Different dr did it that time and he told me the other one didn't do it right. So the second one worked and I finally got to sleep a bit more. Once they started the pictocin though I could feel my contractions. They weren't painful it was just uncomfortable pressure. Some people say you will have difficulty pushing because you can't feel anything but that didn't happen with me.  The only upside in my opinion was being able to rest a bit before pushing. I had numb feeling legs for weeks after delivery and have joint pain in my knees that is still happening 8 weeks pp. I can't leave my legs straight or bent for long periods of time then move without a sharp pain. My ob said I probably have nerve damage which can happen from epidurals. He said it should go away on its own but I'm going to get a second opinion because the pain is so intense I've almost fallen several times while getting out of bed. There's my horror story lol. Good luck with whatever you choose.

I don't want one because I don't want to be stuck in bed on an IV that will make me swell up and possibly affect initial breastfeeding. I don't want a urinary catheter. I don't want constant fetal monitoring. I also don't want to be unable to walk and have a sleepy baby that has trouble breastfeeding.
