TMI, std or ingrown hair?

Ok, so my boyfriend and me have a very open and honest relationship, so recently he asked me about bumps on the base of his penis. I asked him if it was where hair grows and he said yes. He also said he squeezed one and the follicle came out. I of course assumed it was an ingrown hair. So today my boyfriend woke me up with a dick picture and when I zoomed in I saw the bumps. I just wanted to get your opinions. When I had my annual, I was clean as a whistle and had an std test done and nothing. We are in a long distance relationship and I need to know before he gets here if this is an std. I trust him but I need to protect my body too.
