Did or do any of you ladies use space heaters in your baby's nursery? Please feel free to comment. Thank you!!!

My husband and I are trying to figure out if it's a good idea to use a space heater in our baby's nursery to better regulate that particular rooms temperature. If you ladies have used one and had no issues please let me know. If its a bad idea and using the thermostat to make the baby's room the same temperature as every other room in the house is the safest option please share your experiences. Thank you!

I think using the thermostat would be safer. I'm scared of space heaters because they can cause fires.

We have an old house with no central air and will be using a space heater. It works fine for us and our 2 year old, should work fine for the baby too!

They are safe as long as you get the new kind that will cut off when it gets too hot. They have come a long way and don't really cause as many fires.

I warm my sons room up with a space heater about 30 mins before he goes to bed. I then unplug it. I also use a humidifier to keep it from drying out. We live in an old house in Ohio with freezing temps and snow all winter. He always wears fleece pajamas or a
 Sleep sack, too. He's 20 months. I'll do the same for this baby.

Not only can they cause fires, but will dry out your babies sinuses.

We used a space heater when dd was a baby.  We lived in Hawaii and didn't have a/c or heat in the house at all.  For hubs and I that was fine, Hawaii is rarely hot or cold enough to need it.  But, there were nights when dd did need her space heater.  We just made sure it was far away from her bed and had a thermostat, auto shut off, timer, and was electric.  
If you have central heat, it most likely isn't necessary.

We use a space heater still to this day and our son is two. We have one that auto turns off once it reaches 62 and just keeps it at 62 all night in his room. Make sure you get one that has a setting where it will turn off when it reaches a certain temperature and that it's good quality. We did this because my husband and I like it chilly in our house (:

We will be staying with my mother in law for a few months when the baby comes bc we are looking for a new house. Unfortunately we will be in her cold basement so we plan on getting 2 space heaters to keep going to regulate the temperature.

Just be aware any heater can cause fires so just use common sense unless of course there's a electrical issue...it may make the baby's room a little dry so a humidifier would help if that becomes a problem :-) I as well live in a big old house and luckily 2 of the 4 bedrooms upstairs have small electric baseboard heaters and it just so happens that the nursery is one of these rooms. We use an edinpure on the landing upstairs to heat the other 2 bedrooms :-)
