I think it teaches kids responsibility, teamwork, and the value of money.

I think it depends on the chore. For everyday chores, no, I don't think so. I do believe in allowances, and the parents influence to make sure they are learning the value of money. And I also think that kids should have extra chores available if they want to make some extra money. If they're willing to go above and beyond, I definitely think that's worth extra money.

Like chores for kids? I don't pay my kids to do chores. You don't get paid to clean up after yourselves in the real world. It's a family effort over here. Everyone does their fair share. I base chores on age, it's not like my kids are scrubbing toilets, but little things like emptying the dishwasher and taking the trash out and feeding the dog. My husband and I do cleaning involving chemicals until they get older. I believe it helps teach responsibility and good hygiene.

I believe in "commissions." "When your child is old enough for chores, around five or six, start paying commission—not allowance. If he does the work, he gets paid. No kids yet, but I'm hoping that they will have a set of chores that is unpaid but has to be done (everyone has responsibilities they don't get paid for, might as well learn early), and then extra optional chores that they can earn money from, if they wish. Have to talk to my SO first, though (not like we don't have time to hash it out before our hypothetical children are old enough for chores).

If they make the mess, they better clean it up. Rooms, their dishes, at an older age- laundry. But if it is a communal dirty is mom's job.

My parents REFUSED to pay us for chores, it was their belief that they paid us with our rooms and privacy. The less chores we did the less privacy we received and they took things from us.

For me, I could never "do anything right" so I never had privacy, or many of the niceties, like my favorite books, or favorite nightlight. (Which didn't help with the nyctophobia)

I buy my kids clothes food..I allow every sport they want to participate in and not to mention all the clubs and extra curriculum activities..that is getting paid because these things are not cheap. I contribute to a savings account in their names for when they need a car..that is getting paid so whatever chore I make them do I do not have to give them money I give to them throughout the yr

My parents paid me to do chores up until I got my first job. Their house was always spotless 😁
