Can someone tell me more about this gender blood test?

I've heard ladies say they got a test or bloodwork done early on and were told boy or girl. How is this possible I have 3 kids never had that option or offered that! Is this new? I'm in the USA by the way. Please someone explain this. Thank you ☺️

It is actually really used for genetic testing. To test for Down syndrome which is trisomy 21 but it also test for trisomy 13 and 18 and a couple other thing they usually dont just us it to test for the gender it cheeks for a x or y chromosome in the baby so that is how that is how the find out the gender
