Which is better ? They say formula is bad for they baby but why I never new why

A fed baby, is the best. I personally am breastfeeding. With my first I was not able to produce after 1 month and switched to formula. Well once that happened my daughter was projectile spitting up each bottle, to the point she started to lose weight, which didn't help because she was premature. So now with my second, I am going to breastfeed and build my supply. There are pros and cons to each and it is your decision in what's best for you and your baby. But formula is fine for your baby, it would not be used if it was not.

Formula is not bad it is a great alternative BUT it will NEVER be better than breast milk.. Some woman can't breastfeed and don't have a choice..

If formula was bad for the baby it wouldn't be on the market.  I formula fed both my kids. They are now 15 & 12 and very healthy. I'm 23+4 weeks now and will formula feed him also. The formula now a days are not much different than the moms milk. The boob is still healthier and they say it alows for bonding time. I had no issue at all bonding with my kids and their dad also bonded while giving them a bottle.

I Breast fed 2/4 of my babies. I can honestly tell a difference in the healthiness of the ones that were bf vs the ones that were not. The ones that were, hardly ever get sick. The ones that were not, stay sick.

Breastfeeding is better for baby, but a formula fed baby will be fine. Breastfeeding lets the mom's immune system help out the baby's immune system and teach it how to kill germs. It also has a few components in in that formula doesn't have. Every few years they add a few more things (recently DHA) to formula that it didn't have before, so I wouldn't trust that it has everything that breast milk has even if you discount the immune system components. It's also better for mom because it reduces chances of breast cancer and diabetes. It's much cheaper. After the first month or two, it's much easier than formula feeding, too - baby is hungry, here is food. Don't have to make bottles in the middle of the night or anything. But if you formula feed, baby will be fine. Before formula was invented, babies were sometimes fed mushed grain and beer, which is not similar at all to breast milk, and many of them survived and grew into sturdy adults. Not that anyone should ever feed babies anything like that! But they didn't have other options.

Glad to see so many open-minded comments. Formula is designed as an alternative to breastmilk. Being that it isn't biological, it won't ever contain all the same nutrients as breast milk. If you want to breastfeed, I recommend staying alway from formula. Breast milk production is supply and demand. If you start adding a bottle of formula to supplement, it takes away a feeding from the breast and your body produces less milk as a result. There are pros and cons to each method, and you will need to decide what works the best for you and for baby. Best wishes on your journey!

Everyone will say breastfeeding is better and I would have to agree..but there's also nothing wrong with formula feeding! My point of view is fed is fed. Some women can't breastfeed and some women just choose not to. I'm going to try of course with my first but if its not for me then its just not for me!
