Break up

I recently just broke up with off and on again boyfriend of 8 months and I'm so sad. He already has a new "girl" and apparently he made out with her the day we broke up. I've been devastated and crying ever since. He and I were always a team together and within our group of friends and I just can't seem to get over it. He told me last night that he thought I was his life partner and that he still loves me. He said he misses me a lot and at this point does not know what he wants. I'm so confused. He will randomly text me asking me if I'm okay and pictures of he and I in the past. I'm not sure how to feel. I know after him getting with someone else I shouldn't be with him but I love him and he's giving mixed signals
