Work and IUI (long but I need help)
Ok, so back in January, hubby and I started going to a Fertility specialist. We lived in a small town, so the closest one was about 2 hours away. We both worked full time jobs and both of our bosses worked with us when it came to the "randomly scheduled" appointments. After our first IUI cycle failed, we decided to make our lives easier and move to be closer to the dr. During the move, we took a break from TTC and focused on finding new jobs and getting settled in. He ended up working night shift, so it was perfect because he never has to work when we have to go to the dr. I, on the other hand, got a day job. A regular 8 to 4 Monday through Friday thing. About a month after I started working there, we decided it was time to go back to the dr. When I talked to my boss about it, he informed me that I needed to make all of my appointments during my lunch break or wait until I'd been there a full year and use my week vacation for it. When I politely explained that that's not how this kind of thing works, they got mad because i "didn't tell them that during my interview". Then a week before my 90 days was up, I got a letter in the mail saying that they've decided to let me go because I'm not a good fit for the team. Devastated, I called my friend. She happens to mention that her work is hiring and that it would be perfect because my schedule could flex around my appointments. So I submitted my resume and a week later went in to interview with the manager. During my interview, I explained what I needed to do while TTC and that I would have Dr appointments pop up with less than a week's notice. She said it was fine and that they would work with me. Now we're in IUI cycle 2 and I've been written up for showing up late for work (I had an ultrasound and told them as soon as I knew about it). And my coworkers are being MAJOR bitches about it because I don't "just schedule my appointments for my days off". I've tried and tried to explain this to them and I've even taken in notes from my Dr stating what's going on, but it's not doing me any good. So other than just quitting my job, what can or should I do in this situation? Can they fire me even though I have Dr notes and they knew before I was hired what the situation was, or am I just screwed?
