Flu shot. My NP recommended that I receive the flu shot this yr. I never get one. Are you getting yours? what are the risks or pros to getting a flu shot? Help I don't know what to do!

I only get the flu shot while I'm pregnant and is highly recommended by the majority of medical professionals. When you are pregnant your immune system is compromised and you are more susceptible to contracting the flu. The flu can be fatal to you and/or your unborn baby. Plus the baby will be protected against the flu once they are born. If you do decide to get the flu shot be sure to get it at your OB's office. The flu shots for pregnant women are different for those who are not pregnant.

I've never had a flu shot, and I never will.. ESPECIALLY while pregnant, because I don't inject chemicals into my body. I've had the flu once, and it was definitely terrible, but I'm not scared at all to do it again. I take excellent care of my body and work to maintain a strong immune system, that's all the insurance against the flu that I need.

I've never received the flu shot until this month and the main reason I got it was because of the higher risk of complications in case I did catch the flu, also when you are pregnant your immune system is weaker so it is worth taking the precautions. I had no symptoms after getting the shot.

As a pregnant person, your immune system is weakened. Getting the flu could harm your baby or cause loss. I never get one but got it this year to do what's safest for my baby!

I haven't had one in 5+yrs & I've been fine. Didn't feel the need to get one for my pregnancy but my SO & I did receive the TDAP shot.

I get it every year because my son has asthma and he tends to get real bad colds so if I can prevent a bad flu I will try. Got this year also to get the antibodies in my yet to be born little man. Same reason I am getting g the whooping cough vaccine  on friday

Pregnant women are placed in the same category that infants and elderly are with suseptablity to the flu. And the flu has killed a lot of elderly people because those bodies aren't strong enough to fight it off. I would definitely get the flu shot, though it's not madatory. Better safe than sorry.
