Baby crib vs Bassinet?

Question

Which one would be better for a newborn? I read about it and a crib is better for the long run because can be used for longer vs a bassinet is only for the first few months and has a weight limit. If deciding on a crib which kind of crib, there's so many choices idk which is best. Advice please?

I don't know that one is BETTER, per se. I chose bassinet because I want my baby close and it's easier for nighttime feedings.

I was thinking bassinet at first but I'm going to try my best to stick with crib from the beginning that way she gets used to sleeping in it. Too many moms now having difficulties transition their babies from the bassinet to the crib or wherever to the crib

Bassinet is better for a newborn (more convenient), but they aren't little forever so if you had to chose one.. Buy a crib.

We decided to use a bassinet because her crib was in her own room and I wanted her close to me. So I kept it next to my bed. It was super convienent. We ended up weaning her to her crib at about 4 months old.. It is very nice to have a bassinet that rocks or has a mobile to help soothe baby.

We have both, one is from an in law the other my parents. If you can find them gently used, our son is two weeks old and likes to sleep in either his swing or little portable bed.

I loved my co-sleeper. Didn't like the bassinet becuase I couldn't see her. Made it supper easy for nursing at night too. When she was about 3 months I started putting her down for naps in her crib in her room...to make the transition to sleeping in her crib easier and it worked. At 6ish months I transitioned her into her crib at night and she sleepy wonderfully....she has always been a. Good sleeper though.

I'm doing both! my baby will be in my room for the first few months in a bassinet and then after that she'll go to her own room in the crib, also look for 3 in 1 or more cribs, that way you can also use it as a toddler bed when the baby gets bigger/older and of you wanted you can also use some as a day bed and or a full size bed. (full size bed would just be the ends of the crib being a head board and foot board basically)
