Diabetic and pregnant?

I just found out I am 6 weeks pregnant. I am also diabetic. Is having to switch to insulin that bad?

Answer

Your body becomes more resistant to insulin during pregnancy. That is why women end up with gestational diabetes. If you are already diabetic on oral medications before pregnancy, be prepared to have to take insulin at some point during your pregnancy. Your doctor may increase it as you get further along in your pregnancy. It is extremely important to keep your glucose levels under control during pregnancy to decrease complications. Just because you have to take insulin now doesn't mean you will have to continue taking it after you have the baby.

I'm trying for a baby and my drs already put me on insulin not even tried tablets yet as some tablets are harmful to the baby and also your body won't produce enough insulin when your pregnant. They put me on insulin to get good control and know how much insulin to have a day.
