Was it pointless to buy a crib?

Question

I'm a 1st time mom & my fiancè & i have already purchased & put together a crib about a month ago now, (in our spare room) & now i've been reading that you should have your newborn in
The same room as you to reduce the chance of SIDS.. & alot of people saying they use a bassinet/pack&play/cradle ..
Our thought was we were gonna have the baby sleep in the crib to get used to it right away . 
But now i feel like we wasted our money even buying the crib .. 
Do you think it would be ok maybe to just move the crib into our room if it will fit ? Or should we buy a bassinet ? Thankss

I had the baby sleep in a bassinet in our room at night but would but put him in the crib for his naps until he was about 4-5 months. It made it so we had no problems getting him to sleep in his own room when we felt more comfortable with him being in his own room alone.

We will only have our baby sleep in a bassinet for 2-3 months. Then the baby will move to her crib.

We have a crib for her room and a basanett for our room.  She will sleep in our room for the first month or two then move into her room and sleep in her crib.

Main reason a bassinet is better is because it's in your room. If I were you I'd just put the crib in your room for a couple of months ☺️

I had a pack and play with my 1st. A crib with my 2nd. A pack n play with my 3rd. And now I bought a crib, our house is bigger. I don't see a difference. It's a preference type of thing.

I use cribs for naps when baby gets here. It gives me a chance to clean my room/bathroom and other areas of the house without disturbing baby. However, nights for the first 2 months baby sleeps in bassinet by my bed. Mostly for my benefit...I sleep better knowing I hear every movement and am close enough to get to baby fast enough to keep calm when she wakes up. That way she will hopefully get fed and changed and go right back to bed.

I have a cradle in our room for the first few months. He will then be moved into his own room in his crib. Did this with my daughter and it worked perfectly !

We have the crib in our room. Mainly because we only have 3 bedrooms (all accounted for) and he won't have his own room for a couple years. The master bedroom is so big though all of his furniture is in its own area. I will be using a pack and play next to the bed for the first few months as it will be easier for the middle of the night feedings.

My crib is handmade and my 3rd son has slept in it more than both of his brothers! It is right beside our bed and he sleeps there pretty much every night now that he has weaned! He is 18 months and I am almost 17 weeks along. We will soon transition him to an actual toddler bed so that when the baby arrives he will be used to sleeping somewhere else. So crib for baby room is pretty pointless for us. 😀

We had a crib, a bassinet and a play pack. However for the first 6 months my son slept in his car carrier next to the bed at night because his nasal cavity drained badly and if laid flat he would've drowned. That being said he also had a problem rocking his bassinet so that was a danger problem as well. Really it's up to you.

Was it pointless to buy a crib?
