Confused???

How exactly is the due date calculated? I went for a sono on wed and I am measuring a little over 5 weeks. The first day of my last period was 10/24? Please help??

Due dates are calculated on a "normal" 28 day cycle 14 day ovulation. Like every woman fits into that! Lol! That's why it is ESTIMATED due date. If you know your cycle length and luetal phase you can use this website to pull a more accurate due date. http://www.yourduedate.com
But unless you know exactly when you ovulated it's still just estimated. The early scans are usually more accurate than going off cycle date.

I'm confused as well. Because even though that was the date of your last cycle, that's not when you conceived. So how can they say to measure it from that when, I ovulated 11 days afterwards and must have conceived a few days before that. Just confuseing to me. I'd think they would count from three days or so after you had intercourse. Can anyone please clarify? Thanks!

Due dates are not an exact date. It's approximate. I've read only about 5% of women actually have their baby on there due date.

My first child was due on Sept 1st. Was born on Aug. 28th and the pediatricians said he looked a few weeks early.

The date of my last period makes me 7 weeks roughly but at my early scan baby measured at 5 weeks 1 day and made my due date the 25/7/16. Now 5 weeks 5 days

You should have a 12 week scan and that would also be a dating scan. If you ask them they should be able to work out and tell you the due date based on baby's size and not your period date. Hope this helps

Its from the first day of your period to today so my period was 18 which makes me 5.6 days
