My daughter (5-years-old) is convinced that the doctors will have to cut me open to get the baby out and that I will die. I have explained it to her and reassured her but she is terrified. I have no idea where this notion came from and I was ill-prepared for that talk. So I pulled up YouTube and started showing her computer-animated films from BabyCenter on Labor and Delivery. I felt she might be too young but she is incredibly smart and can handle the information. Surprisingly, it did calm her down. Anyone else have an adverse reaction from your child(ren) when you told them about the pregnancy? How did you handle it?
