How many receiving blankets should I get?

With all the spitting up that happens... I'd say at least 6 or 7. Once you find your favorite though, you usually just end up using just those. For us, our favorites were the ones made of jersey knit material (t-shirt fabric) because we could strech it, and it would sort of lock because of that. Kind of like saran wrap :) It just kept our son's swaddle from coming undone better. We had a winter baby though, and that's something else to take into consideration. Our next will be born in the summer, and we'll be giving those Aden and Anais muslin swaddles a try since they're more breathable. Hope that helped & Congratulations!!!

I was told not to get too many because you will get some from the hospital and everyone has said those are their favorite but we have about 6.

I had around 12 probably with first born. He had reflux so they came in handy. Not only that I put them underneath his bottom when changing him on the bed, carpet, or wherever he was changed. I also used them when he got out of the bath since his towel would be wet after drying him off. They are super cheap and you don't care if they get stained!

I didn't think I'd use them so I didn't take any from the hospital. Big mistake they are so great my LO hates being swaddled so I can't use the velcro ones. I'd say get at least 6 as long as you can do a wash a couple times a week.

I have about 30... So sure I will not need anywhere near that much! But I also am only able to do laundry about once every two weeks! So definitely put laundry into consideration. If you can do laundry at least a few times a week, I wouldn't imagine you would need more than 10.

The hospital where I'm having my baby doesn't give out receiving blankets. The only thing they give you is a couple  shirts and swaddles ( but you don't get to keep them. They take them back and wash them for other moms to use).
