hyperemesis gravidarum (severe morning sickness)
Hey ladies, I was just wondering if anyone else was suffering with hg? I have been since around week 5/6 throwing up up to 20 times a day unable to even keep water down- thus ending up on an iv over night at the hospital...
I seem to have found a way to help my hg and I thought I would share it as the strong anti sickness meds they gave me could be harmful to the baby but also stopped working for me after around 4 weeks.
On days when I can eat/ drink -
I drink lots of water!!! A huge amount in fact, I steer clear of milk and use lactose free products, one nurse told me eat yoghurt before bed to line my stomach after realising that made me 1000xs worse I started to question a lactose intolerance (not confirmed but I now avoid it!)
I also drink a lucozade! It seems to work wonders for me getting my ketone levels down quicker than anything else-
My last tip is I eat nuts before bed and during the night when ever I have to pee I also sip water then too...
For some reason those few steps have completely changed my hg from unbearable and leaving me in hospital several times a week to being manageable and more like the "morning sickness" other women describe, don't get me wrong I still feel rough!!! But just being able to keep fluids down is a huge relief and has really given me my life back after a few weeks of depression.
For me none of the normal remedies such as ginger had an effect at all since most of the time I couldn't keep them down for more than 10/20 mins!
I'm sure the nuts and lucozade are a mirical cure & urge you to try it & let me know how you get on too!
Big hugs and kisses to anyone going through this, will all be worth it in the end though 💗
