Too much weight gain

I'm freaking out. I went to the doctor yesterday and accidentally looked at the scale. Big mistake. Now i really feel like a whale! I started out at 215lbs. I'm build tough, I had a lot of muscle, played rugby, ran, worked out a lot. Still too much fat for my liking, but was still a lot of muscle. As of yesterday, 274lbs!!! And as I sit on my bed and look at myself in the mirror I just want to cry. I don't feel pretty, I look like a pregnant whale!! More whale than pregnant! And I feel like I've lost all my muscle and its turned into straight fat.
