Twins Mono-Mono
My first prenatal appointment today at 9 weeks, included an ultrasound that found a set of twins. After much examination of the uterus, the doctor found the babies are in the same amniotic sac with no divider of any sort (from what I understand).
My OB/GYN has referred me to the closest city to be treated in the University Hospital that will be more experienced/equipped to handle this high-risk pregnancy.
From what I have been told, there are many situations and problems that can arise with this kind of pregnancy. Also that the rate of survival of one is low and survival of both is even less.
I'm trying to find something positive to hold onto! Does anyone have any firsthand experience with this kind of pregnancy that ended on a positive note without overbearing complications? I'm at a loss for how to feel at the moment. Here I thought i was almost in the safe zone (2nd Trimester) so I could be excited for a baby but now I feel as though the pregnancy couldn't possibly end with two healthy squishy faced babies.
