When did you get to know what you are having? My doctor told me they are legally not allowed to tell me before the 20 weeks scan. Is that true?

It's not a legal thing-it's accuracy. We didn't find out but they did ask us (multiple times) at our 20wk scan.....so must've been able to see.

Would have found out at 20 week scan if we'd wanted to (we want a surprise) but it's definitely not illegal to give people an idea of the sex before?! My friend had a scan at 13 weeks and the tech said she thought it was a boy but couldn't be 100%..

Paid for early sexing Scan at 16weeks which was accurate anyways, it was a 4d Scan too which is nice to do!
They tell you their best guess basically they NEVER tell you 100% and that’s before or after your 20 weeks

I found out at 10 weeks with the Harmony test, so that's total BS!

Why do us Brits have to wait so long, Americans seem to be able to find out from 12 weeks?

We paid for a private scan - we went at 17weeks but were told we could have gone anytime from 16 weeks. 
Our NHS scan was at 20 weeks and they confirmed it was a boy 💙

Not sure what the law is, but some hospitals just don't tell you at all. And it's in their policies. They probably don't want to say too early in case they are wrong, as obviously the scans are clearer further on in pregnancy. Also some hospitals just don't say at all in case if people have an abortion because they don't want a baby of that particular sex (usually girls).
