Tooth extraction?

Charlotte
I'm at the Dentist this morning with a severely painful abscessed tooth and 6 weeks pregnant. I've barely eaten since yesterday morning and barely slept last night. I've heard conflicting advice about what treatment I'm getting. My GP had a look and gave me antibiotics. He said the Dentist will likely remove the tooth (it's a canine) and the antibiotics will stop it becoming infected. I'm happy with that, as I'm phobic of drills. However, the woman on the phone who got me the appointment at emergency Dentist said he'll probably do a root canal. I've had one root canal before and it was awful-I swore I'd never go through that again, never mind pregnant! Has anyone managed to persuade a Dentist to pull their tooth over root canal treatment? Surely it's my decision in the end? Also, I'm worried about risks to my baby. Which is worse for the baby, me having the root canal and panicking like crazy or having a tooth pulled where I'll be calm?
