Any other student Mamas out there?

Question

So as I was preparing to go back to grad school for my PhD, my husband and I found out we were expecting! A complete surprise, since we were not planning on starting our family until I almost done with my program.

Now however I'm 27 weeks pregnant and have this protruding baby belly (don't get me wrong, I love my bump ❤️), but I get weird looks from the younger students. A lot of time it's like a second glance and it's unsettling for me because I've lost a ton of weight in the past and have always had body image issues. My husband is wonderful though saying I'm beautiful and my belly is amazing.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is, is anyone else going through this?

I'm 18 and just started university in September. I'm only 7 weeks but my bump is starting show more every week.
 I already know the stress I'm gonna get for it, still being a teenager and all.

I also took on my two sisters after my mum left (2&3yrs). People think they're mine, my fiancé and I get dirty looks and verbal abuse from people all the time. I just hold my head up high😂 they don't know anything.

I finished my undergrad at 36 weeks pregnant with my son in 2013 and I even missed graduation. Now I am starting my master in January and my daughter will only be a couple of weeks old. It doesn't matter what other think what matters is that you are doing this to better your self and your family.

I'm in grad school, I started my second masters program, but I'm in the military, so it's a military grad school. Having a baby now is kind of our only option because I'm going to a job next where I'll be a CO and can't really take a lot of leave. They are giving me 2 weeks off after I have the baby 😁. Luckily, all the 'students' are military officers my age or older, but they're like 98% men, which of course I'm used to, but it's odd now that I'm pregnant. I know that a lot of men in the military have storm opinions about women being there so I do feel kind of judged but if they only knew I didn't get maternity leave and this was my only chance, and I just got married after 12 years of being in the military and deploying, maybe they'd change their minds....maybe not. Anyhoo, I figure that my husband and I (and our son) are the ones who have to live with the decisions we've made and we are the ones who will benefit from my hard work, so screw everyone else 😆. I think you're awesome!

This happens to me too when I'm pregnant. I find that sometimes people aren't so much starring but doing a double take like did I just see that? Other people walk way out of their way to avoid me and my strange bump.. Older women smile a nostalgic oh I remember those days smile. Other people jump up to give me their seat or open a door.. I think in your situation your at a college where there are mostly young people who have never been pregnant or had that experience before and those are the people who would probably avoid me and my bump or look away quickly because it's awkward for them? Idk. So I guess my point is that everyone responds to pregnant women differently and I wouldn't take it personally. 😊 I'm sure you look beautiful.

One thing I've learned is people look. You have a baby inside of you and most times when I seen a pregnant woman before I was I just thought all these things like, I wonder what she's having, her bump is adorable, they are going to have a beautiful baby and etc. And also if she can do it I can too. There maybe some negative thoughts but as long as it's not said to yu f those looks.

I'm finishing my Bachelors! Lol which I switched online to make things easier but I go to Liberty University (largest Christian school in the world) and I got pregnant before marriage *gasp* so I got a lot of nasty looks 🙄

I go to a state university and people always look. I don't necessarily dislike it, but it doesn't bother me either. People are facinated by pregnant ladies. I'm just embracing it, lol. I graduate in May then go right back in to begin my Master's. Yay for higher Ed :) Good luck in your program!

I'm working on my masters at night, so that takes care of the issue for me. Haha
