Did you take time off work for IUI or IVF?

Question

We have been TTC for over 2 yes with unexplained infertility and about to do first of 3 cycles of IUI in Jan, I have a very stressful job and thinking about taking time off, would love to hear views on this???

I took the day of the IUI off. I worked the rest of my cycle. I'm now 6 weeks 3 days. Found out yesterday that we're having TWINS!!

Yep!! I'm taking January to December 2016 off to concentrate on IVF! I can't manage all the appointments, my hormones and days off and work full time. I'm incredibly lucky, I know!

I hear you. I would love to take time off just to clear my head and think about things, but can't really justify it. There's no medical reason why I shouldn't go, and this TTC process might take months! I don't have that much leave owing. Maybe if I win Lotto :)

I just happened to be off. I had a double iui this weekend and ended up being glad I was off. The first day I had cramping all day and the second it hurt during the procedure. I'm a nurse though and it would have been too much on my body. I would definitely take off for ivf though.

I didn't with my iui and it was successful. My job was pretty stressful at the time but I just made myself my priority and did whatever I could to minimize the stress. I read that stress can be a factor but not huge, so dont stress about trying not to stress! I also ate pineapple core everyday after for 5 days. Not sure if it helped but I tried everything that didnt seem too crazy.

My job is way to stressful and not such good vibes.... For my first Iui I took off the day of the procedure. I'm doing my second IUI on Thursday and decided to take thurs/Friday off getting a massage after and relaxing for the rest of the week. I'm praying that it works this time around. .. I am coming towards the end of my first cycle of IVF and aside from days off for ER and ET I have worked through. I have a fairly stressful job but the process has been pretty straightforward and I never felt like I need any more time off than I have had. That said I think everyone is different and every job is different. My boss has been very supportive and my early morning appointments for scans have not been an issue.

I did not take time off for my IUI but IVF is very different. You are on more hormones during IVF with a lot more appointments. My RE office had the blood test/ultrasound in the early mornings so that was great. Not all offices do. The day of the ER, I was sedated so I needed someone to drive me there and home and couldn't do much the day of. There is also a possibility of over stimulating from the hormones and you will feel awful. The day of the ET, although I was awake and it was a quick procedure my RE put me on bed rest for 2-3 days afterwards. You will also need to have appointment and continue hormones after the transfer until they discharge you to your OB. But I am happy with everything because I am currently 29 weeks.

This is my second round of IUI. As with last time, I am planning to take the actual day of the procedure off, just to take it easy. The procedure itself takes about 15 minutes, but I like the idea of not hustling out of there to go back to work. Then again, I have the leave available to do so.

I have a stressful job as well. I didn't take time off for IUI. The procedure itself took about 15 minutes. No pain afterwards, pretty easy. Baby dust to you and good luck
