Sex ok after you've lost mucus plug?

I have lost my mucus plug after a failed induction a few days ago. My question. . . Is it still safe to have sex after you've lost your plug? I was under the assumption that it was there for some sort of "protection " so I am a little nervous.

I was told it was there to keep bacteria out, keeping you from getting any kind of infection. My dr. said the safe thing is to not have sex after the mucus plug is lost. But to each their own.

Losing the plug your fine to have sex.  It's no sex when your water breaks.

I asked my midwife about this today at my appointment and she said that sex is ok until your water breaks.
