My period is a full 18 days late. I take birth control and my boyfriend and I have fooled around but haven't had any penetrative sex in months. Should I be worried?

Answer

If your period doesn't come during your break week it is a missed period, any bleeding outside that time is breakthrough bleeding.

That said, missing 1 period on the pill isn't much to worry about. It's especially common in the first 3 months on the pill, but even after that unless you miss two in a row there's not much to worry about.
