Short cervix...?! Confused...

Hey ladies so this is my third pregnancy. I'm 14 weeks. At the beginning of my pregnancy I was told I'm high risk, because I had my second child at 32 weeks with no explanation as to why other than she flat lined and I needed an emergency c-section.

Now I've recently gone with a specialist and he told me I have an 'incompetent cervix' and will need a cerclage procedure done to close my cervix to avoid miscarriage. I'm just wondering if this has happened to anyone else?!

How come I'm only finding out the third time around my cervix is way shorter then it should be. That scares me.... 😢

Shouldn't doctors be able to tell?! Maybe I'm over thinking it but this makes me feel uneasy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
