Am I missing something?

My mom slightly upset me over the holiday week. She is insistent that my sister that is 3 years older have baby this year & basically laughed even at the idea of me having a child. My sister has a job where she makes a decent living but just got divorced in August and she is extremely wreck less with her money. My mom wants her to just pick a random person & get pregnant.  Meanwhile I have a loving husband that WANTS a child & we are both employed but the fact that we choose to live with my FIL she doesn't think we are ready for a baby. Am I missing something here? 😒

Honestly, you're not ready for one if you are living with a parent for reasons other than health issues. It shows that you are not financially (or mentally) ready to live in your own place. And on top of that, you would be subjecting that parent to the restless nights of having a baby in the house. You need to be able to be independent yourselves before you bring about a baby who is going to be dependent on you.

We sold our old house much quicker than expected and to save money lived with my parents and then my in-laws while we finished building a house for about six months total. It was a HORRIBLE experience, and not because I have bad parents or my husband has bad parents. I feel like I am one of the few people to be blessed with amazing in-laws. However, our son was ruined while living with them. There were too many cheifs for one Indian. Everyone was telling us how to parent, and at the same time spoiling the crap out of their first grandchild. It took us a long time to get back into a routine once we moved back out on our own. Regardless of who your mom thinks should have a child, I would wait until you live on your own!

I think your mom knows you  have constant love in your life. And your sister is going through some things, so she wants her to have someone to love that won't leave her.

I didn't know that one small detail was going to cause such an issue so I'll clear it up. My divorced sister has a roommate in a one bedroom house while I have an apartment with an extra room next to ours but on the other side of the apartment from my FIL. I didn't think I had to say it but yes his dad had depression when the love of his life passed away. He lost everything but his truck & job. He lived in his truck for a week before we  made him move into our oversized apartment that we had before him we we're already planning for a baby. We loved his presence so much we asked him to stay permanently. He's laid back and doesn't give his two cents unless we ask. He's extremely grateful & considers me the only daughter he'll ever have (he's not going anywhere, unless he wants to). We aren't forcing him to stay if he doesn't like the baby crying we financially could get him another place easily. Just in case people need details. - Colby

Sweetheart don't worry about what your mom thinks on this matter. You are married and even though you live with your FIL doesn't mean you are not ready to have a baby. Don't stress over it what will be will be. For your mom to just want your sister to have a baby by a random dude is ridiculous. Does she think that the father will not be in the child's life or something? Do what's best for you and your family. At the end of the day that's all that matters.

I would question if you are ready if you have to live with others. Hard to say without all the details but if its because you can't afford your own place, you and your sister might not be ready for a baby.

You probably are not ready for one. Based on this post it doesn't seem like it. You seem jealous. No offense. You look young, just wait a while and be young. You have your whole life for kids.
