Alternative birth control methods?

I'm on birth control and I'm usually really good about taking it, but I still get paranoid and I like to have a second birth control method (aside from pulling out, he does that but I know it's not an effective method). My boyfriend and I have a really hard time using condoms because they hurt both of us and they dry me out no matter how much lube we use and it make sex a really painful and unenjoyable experience for me. Does anyone have a recommendation of another form of birth control we should use other than condoms?
