What do you think of Wolfgang as a boy name?

My husband wants to name our child (if it's a boy) Wolfgang. I am undecided and have told him no for now. I was wanting to get other people's opinions besides my in law's.

I think a good compromise could be using Wolfgang as a middle name.

There is less scrutiny on middle names.

Here's how a normal interaction would go...
Hi I'm Frank, Nice to meet you!
Hi I'm Wolfgang, You too!
Frank's response: 😐 backs away slowly.

Now Wolfgang as a middle name...
Hi I'm Frank, Nice to meet you!
Hi I'm John, You too!
Years later after becoming best friends... Hey John what was your middle name? 
Hey Frank it's Wolfgang.

Yeah...

I used to be friends with a Wolfgang who was awesome, everyone called him Wolf. I thought it was unique and awesome. I say if you like it, do it.

I named a child America because it has meaning, yet I got a TON of negative feedback on my decision and still do.

She was named America after what her father and my best friend who fought for and gave the ultimate sacrifice for.

As long as this name has a deep and strong meaning to you, then do as you will! It's your child not anyone else's!

Wolfgang is a perfectly normal German name. I would consider using it myself if I didn't already know so many Wolfgangs! I like it much better than the US-popular names like Aiden/Brayden/Mason etc.

Personally I'm not a fan but my little brother has a friend named Wolfgang they call him wolfie. Kids aren't going to judge your kid the parents are. And as long as you don't give a shit about some random as parents your kid will be fine. Be different.
