Baby shower before or after baby is born?

Why did you choose to do baby shower before birth of baby, or afterwards?

I'm doing it before but I will also know the gender. But I think it will help me prepare for the baby to be here before it gets here. I guess afterwards would be better for people who don't want to know the gender than it gives people more options as to boy/girl things because there isn't a ton of options for gender neutral items. But I personally would do it before the baby is born that way when the baby is here you can just focus on you and baby and not worry about planning a baby shower. And like I said its just going to help me prepare for the baby to get here. I would rather have what I need rather than try and run to the store with a new born or try to find a sitter for 30 minutes to run to the store.
